District Will Try to Maintain Same-Sex Partner Benefits

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor school district officials say they'll try to find a way to continue offering benefits to same-sex partners of employees who weren't under contract this past month.
Supporters of the benefits asked the school board Wednesday night to act quickly after employees were recently notified that the district would not to continue to offer the benefits.

Council Changes Land Sale Policy

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council has approved the sale of a small parcel of land for the development of an office center along Eisenhower Parkway. Included in the council's resolution Monday night was a provision to revoke a policy set in the late 1990's that dedicated money from city land sales to the affordable housing trust fund. Farmers Market Plan Moves Forward

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council has approved a 100-thousand dollar design contract for the renovation and expansion of the city's Farmers Market.
Council voted ten to one Monday night in favor of the contract with Beckett and Raeder.
The design work and renovation are expected to cost a total of about a million dollars, to be paid for from the market fund, the downtown development authority, and the park rehabilitation and development millage.
