City Sells Historic Michigan Theater

Ann Arbor, MI – The Michigan Theater Foundation is buying the historic theater from the city for a dollar.

Sidewalk Compromise

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council has given final approval to build sidewalks on the west side of Easy Street in southeast Ann Arbor.
Council confirmed the assessment roll Monday night and agreed to pay half the cost of the 40-thousand dollar project.
A plan to put sidewalks on both sides of the street was rejected last year following complaints from residents.
Construction on the sidewalks should take place this summer as part of the city's ongoing street and water main replacement project.

County Considers Regulations for Private Sewage Systems

Ypsilanti, MI – Washtenaw County's Board of Commissioners is considering establishing regulations on privately-owned community sewage systems. At a public hearing Wednesday night, officials with several townships supported the plan, but the Homebuilders Association says such regulations would drive up the cost of new homes. Regional Cooperation Efforts Underway

Ypsilanti, MI – Governor Granholm and state lawmakers have said there could be financial rewards for local governments that enter into regional cooperation agreements on some services to increase efficiency and save money. Budget Balancing includes Cuts for Ann Arbor Schools

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor School District Superintendent Todd Roberts has outlined his plan for resolving a projected seven-point-five million dollar budget shortfall for the upcoming school year. The plan outlined to the school board Wednesday night includes five-point-six million dollars in cuts, one-point-two million in additional revenue, and using 650-thousand dollars from reserves.
