Eagles Put a Wrap on Spring Drills

Ypsilanti – To improve upon its 4-7 record in 2004, Eastern Michigan must get better defensively. And, early in Saturday's intra-squad spring scrimmage, the defense excelled, stopping EMU's offense on five of eight possessions.

Then backup quarterback Tyler Jones broke loose, providing more than enough memorable plays to trump the defense's early success.

"He plays faster than he runs the 40," head coach Jeff Genyk said of Jones. "And, obviously, he's very difficult to tackle."

EMU Taps Ramsey as Hoops Coach

Ypsilanti – Charles Ramsey will return to his alma mater and take over as the head coach of the Eastern Michigan men's basketball team.

Ramsey grew up in Ypsilanti, and graduated from EMU in 1992. He also served two separate stints as an assistant for former Eagle coach Ben Braun in the 1990s. Ramsey spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan.
