EMU Looks to Kick 3rd Quarter Blues

Ypsilanti, MI – Eastern Michigan head football coach Jeff Genyk admits he didn't see Saturday's third quarter collapse against Toledo coming.

After EMU was outscored 28-3 in the third during games against Buffalo and Florida, Genyk tried to correct the problem by installing a halftime segment during last week's practices. Coming out of the break Saturday, Genyk expected an improvement.

Voters Approve ISD Millage Increase

Washtenaw County, MI – Washtenaw County voters have overwhelmingly approved a millage increase for the county's intermediate school district that will help pay local districts for special education programs.
Local districts would have been forced to dip into their general fund budgets to cover special education had the millage been rejected.
The additional millage is expected to generate 12-point-five million dollars this year. The funds will be distributed by the WISD to local school districts in Washtenaw County.

EMU looks to end third-quarter woes

Ypsilanti, Mich. – Eastern Michigan head coach Jeff Genyk had only positive things to say about his team's play Saturday at Florida ... until the last minute of the first half.

"Our players realize playing 29 minutes well against (Florida) is a plus," he said Monday at his weekly media luncheon. "But that still leaves 31 minutes."

EMU-Florida Kickoff Moved

Ypsilanti, MI – University of Florida officials today announced the start time for Saturday's Eastern Michigan-Florida football game has been moved to 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Gainesville suffered major power outages this past weekend when Hurricane Frances passed through. With some street lights and traffic signals still lacking power, officials feel fans will be safer driving to and from an afternoon game than a night game.

Passing Game Key to Swamp Success

YPSILANTI – To win its opener against Buffalo last Thursday, the Eastern Michigan football team needed, and received, contributions from all three units.

"It was a great win from a unity perspective," head coach Jeff Genyk said Tuesday. "To have a game like that where the offense picked up the defense, and the defense picked up the offense, and the special teams created a long field (for Buffalo's offense), was very impressive and it was great for the kids. It's a tremendous building block."

Genyk, EMU, Ready for Game Action

YPSILANTI – At his weekly media luncheon Monday, Eastern Michigan head coach Jeff Genyk reduced all preseason preparations into a simple statement.

Eagles Shift to Game Mode

YPSILANTI – During Eastern Michigan's first full scrimmage since the April spring game, head coach Jeff Genyk learned a lot about a pair of supposed backups.

Sophomore quarterback Ken Bohnet turned in an efficient performance Thursday afternoon, providing Genyk some insurance if starter Matt Bohnet goes down.

"Ken had a very good scrimmage," Genyk said. "He graded out in the high 90s, and he was very aggressive."
