Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's Northside elementary school is closed today after the building was struck by lightning last night. The strike caused significant damage to the school's chimney. The school is closed so the chimney can be removed today. Classes at Northside are expected to resume tomorrow.
Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council and the Downtown Development Authority are still working on final language for a new parking contract, but at least one city council member wants to cut the DDA out of the parking business. Washtenaw County, MI – Washtenaw County's Board of Commissioners has approved a grant application to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and the brownfield redevelopment plan for Ann Arbor's old Georgetown Mall. The commissioners' Ways and Means Committee, however, postponed consideration of backing a loan for the project, and a public-private partnerships investment policy.
