Ypsilanti, MI – University of Florida officials today announced the start time for Saturday's Eastern Michigan-Florida football game has been moved to 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Gainesville suffered major power outages this past weekend when Hurricane Frances passed through. With some street lights and traffic signals still lacking power, officials feel fans will be safer driving to and from an afternoon game than a night game.

YPSILANTI – To win its opener against Buffalo last Thursday, the Eastern Michigan football team needed, and received, contributions from all three units.

"It was a great win from a unity perspective," head coach Jeff Genyk said Tuesday. "To have a game like that where the offense picked up the defense, and the defense picked up the offense, and the special teams created a long field (for Buffalo's offense), was very impressive and it was great for the kids. It's a tremendous building block."

YPSILANTI – At his weekly media luncheon Monday, Eastern Michigan head coach Jeff Genyk reduced all preseason preparations into a simple statement.

"The hay is in the barn. We've just got to see how we perform in a game," Genyk said.

Since he was hired December 1, Genyk has installed a new staff, new offensive and defensive systems, recruited a slew of new players, and run both spring and fall practice camps. Thursday night, the Eagles open the season at home against Buffalo (6:45 p.m. on 89.1, WEMU)
