Ann Arbor, MI – Road construction on Maple Road at the M-14 interchange should begin next month as several roundabouts are built near Ann Arbor's new Skyline High School. The district's school board got its first briefing Wednesday night on the two-million dollar contract with Sunset Excavating, and will vote on the deal next week. This marks the last major construction contract for the 93-million dollar high school. The road improvements should be completed this summer, one year before Skyline opens its doors.
Ypsilanti, MI – Eastern Michigan University's contract with the school's faculty expired at the end of last August. After a brief faculty strike, followed by a few negotiating sessions, both sides agreed to fact-finding to resolve the contract impasse. The fact-finder's recommendations are due out by early April. WEMU's David Fair discussed the ongoing contract dispute, and the faculty union's expectations of the fact-finder's report with EMU-AAUP President Howard Bunsis. Ypsilanti, MI – This is colon cancer awareness month in the U-S. Before the end of this year, more than 150-thousand people will be diagnosed with the disease. Vicki Rakowski is the Executive Vice-President for the American Cancer Society's Great Lakes Division. She joins WEMU's David Fair to discuss how colon cancer can be detected, and death prevented.
