Board Delays Attendance Plan for New High School

Ann Arbor, MI – Results of middle school student and parent surveys about who should attend the Ann Arbor School district's new high school when it opens in 2008 have caused district officials to push back a decision on grade configurations.
Wednesday night, Superintendent Todd Roberts recommended tht the school board not take action on the issue next month.

Parents Want More Security at Huron High

Ann Arbor, MI – A couple of large fights at Ann Arbor's Huron High School this fall have some parents concerned about perceptions of violence at the school.
Huron High School PTO President Brad Chick told the school board Wednesday night that he wants them to support plans to add security cameras and improve communcations with parents.
Board President Karen Cross acknowleged she's experienced communications breakdowns herself, but says that overall, Huron remains a great and safe school despite the incidents this fall.

Jail Expansion Plan Goes Forward

Ypsilanti, MI – The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners Ways and Means Committee has approved the latest plan to expand the county jail.
The committee voted nine to one Wednesday night to approve the space plan and a bond sale to help pay for the project.
