New Zoning and More Advertising

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor's city council has changed the zoning of the South University area to align it with other parts of the city's downtown.
On Monday night, council unanimously approved a central business district and parking zoning designation for the South University area. Councilmember Jean Carlberg says the change should help promote mixed use of the area, and will allow taller buildings.
South University merchants had asked city officials for the zoning change.

Board Approves Pay Raises

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor school district custodial and maintenance staff will be getting a pay raise this year.
Wednesday night, the school board unanimously approved an agreement which calls for a one percent pay raise now, and another one percent increase in January.
171 custodial and maintenance workers are represented by AFSCME. Superintendent Todd Roberts says negotiations are continuing with the district's secretaries and para-professionals, whose contracts expired over the summer.
