The fourth annual For the Love of WEMU, Valentine's Day fundraiser, was held at the Northside Grill Saturday, February 10, 2007. WEMU air personalities waited tables and collected tips totalling $1600, breaking the 2006 record of $1300. Thanks, everyone!
“WEMU and the Northside Grill have been partners in the community for a long time,” said Marketing and Development Director, Mary Motherwell. “We just enjoy doing events together and our fundraising partnership that includes the special Morning Eggdition fundraising breakfast sandwich, that’s been on the menu for almost five years, just keeps getting bigger.”
Every year, WEMU invades this legendary Ann Arbor café and gets the opportunity to schmooze with you, our listeners. For example, Clark Smith, news director, discusses sound recording techniques with a listener.
It's certainly a change for us to serve you in such a different fashion. Linda Yohn, music director and 89.1 Jazz host, pours coffee for a long-time listener.
Art Timko, the station manager, also helps with the coffee.
All those coffee cups have to be picked up. Marc Taras, Cuban Fantasy and 89.1 Jazz host, busses a table.
Of course, it wasn't all work and no play. Michael Jewett, Blues and Some Other Stuff and 89.1 Jazz host, mugs with some of the regular staff of the Northside.
Jessica Webster, 89.1 Jazz host, captivates a young listener.
Apparently, the staff of the Northside could still smile as the day drove to a close. Andrew Cluley, news reporter, poses with Northside assistant manager Dave Ruby.
We look forward to coming back next year and having a lot of fun.
The Northside Grill is located in Ann Arbor at 1015 Broadway, just on the north side of the Broadway Bridge. Here’s a map.
