Ann Arbor Area Music Community Comes Together In Support Of Kevin Ransom

Aug 25, 2015

Members of Ann Arbor's renowned folk and blues scene came together Monday night to help longtime local music writer Kevin Ransom.  A set of debilitating health problems have music critic Kevin Ransom close to losing his home.

Ransom has been a freelance writer for more than two decades, working for outlets like the Ann Arbor News and the Detroit Free Press.

Kevin is known as a passionate supporter of local music in Ann Arbor and the community returned the support last night at a benefit show at the Ark. Artists including Matt Watroba, The Chenille Sisters, and the Reverend Robert Jones returned the support at a benefit show last night at the Ark in Ann Arbor.

Jim Cain, volunteer and producer of Acoustic Routes concert series in Saline, organized the event at the Ark.

Cain: "When I heard that he was sick it really made me mad that somebody could get so sick and have so little resources that they could lose their house."

An online campaign for Ransom on GoFundMe has also been set up, and is about halfway to a goal of $28,000.
