Ann Arbor, MI – 50 years ago, the first Ann Arbor street art fair was held to attract shoppers to the South University area for bargain days. More than a half-million people now come to the four Ann Arbor art fairs each year, with an estimated economic impact of 79-million dollars. But the art fairs have altered the community beyond just attracting visitors and dollars. They've had a huge impact on the area's arts and culture.
