Ann Arbor To Consider Offering Year Round Organic Compost Service

There are a few issues on the agenda fortonight'sAnn Arbor city council meeting.

Council will discuss everything from rezoning land on Nixon Road for new construction projects to extending its Bike Light Giveaway program.

Council member Sabra Briere from the first ward says they will discuss a study regarding having a year round organic compost service in Ann Arbor. She adds, "The goal here is to remove that food and garden waste from the materials that go to the landfill."

The Natural Resources Defense Council estimates that 40% of solid waste in landfills is organic material.
