Ann Arbor Schools Offer Back To School Hotline To Help Parents

Aug 18, 2015

New help is available for Ann Arbor parents to get ready for the upcoming school year.

Ann Arbor Public Schools Superintendent Jeanice Swift says the district created the Back-to-School hotline and website for parents with questions about new student requirements this fall.

Swift said: "We just really want our parents to be able to have easy and quick access to the answers that they need to successfully launch a new school year."

One of those changes affects immunization waivers for non-medical reasons.

Parents are now required by law to take a vaccine education class at the Washtenaw County Health Department before applying for a student waiver.

There's also a change to school transportation this year. Ann Arbor will now use Durham School Services for bussing instead of the Washtenaw County Intermediate School District.

The Back-to-School hotline is open until 8 PM Monday through Friday.
