This edition of Art and Soul focuses on comics and animation with special guests Jerzy and Anne Drozd.
Jerzy Drozd creates comics and is known as the "pied piper of children" at the Ann Arbor Art Center. He describes himself as a "person who writes with pictures" and says the youth comics market is a growing field right now.
Anne Drozd is an organizer of the Ann Arbor Comics Art Festival coming up June 18th and 19th at the downtown Ann Arbor public library.
The festival is a free event that unites kids, teens, parents, teachers and librarians with professional artists and writers from the comics and animation fields.
It's meant to introduce kids to worlds of imagination while unlocking their creative impulses. To serve that goal, the convention includes hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and the chance for kids to meet with professionals and show off their own work.
Jerzy, who says he likes to create comics with "cute and courageous" characters will be part of the upcoming Comics Unbound exhibition at the Ann Arbor Art Center June 10-24th.
