Board Approves New Ypsi Schools Budget

By Bob Eccles

Ypsilanti, MI – The Ypsilanti School Board has approved a 53-point-seven million dollar budget for 2006-2007.
Superintendent James Hawkins says it was possible to balance the new spending plan without cutting instructional programs, but Hawkins warned that next year's budget will be much tougher to balance. He says a deficit of nearly four-million dollars is already projected, and there are no big-ticket items, like the sale of school property, to help make ends meet.
