Ann Arbor celebrates itself tonight. The 11th Annual Townie Street Partyruns from 5pm to 9:30pm tonight. The annual event has become the traditional kick-off to Art Fair week in Ann Arbor. With as many as a half-million visitors making their way to the closed streets of the city, it's one way to celebrate local residents and some of the inconveniences the Art Fair creates every year.
The Townie Street Party is being held on North University, between Thayer and Fletcher streets, and on South Ingalls Mall. The celebration includes music, food, a kid's art fair, an art activity zone and the "Dart for Art" mile-long run.
