City Owned Vacant Lots In Ypsilanti Available At Low Price

WikiCommons

If you have $1,000, you could buy a vacant, city-owned lot in Ypsilanti.

The city obtained the lots through foreclosure cases and now does not have the resources to maintain them.  So, anyone, even non-Ypsilanti residents, can purchase them to build a house or to use as a garden.

Joe Meyers is the city's community development manager.

"Right now, no one's paying taxes on these vacant lots, because the city owns them. And, so, getting them back on the tax rolls is on. We'll get some taxes there."

Buyers will also have to pay for the closing costs.
