Community Television Network Continues Art Fair Tradition

Community Television Network booth at Ann Arbor Art Fair

Beyond a piece of art you bring home, mostly visitors are left with only memories of each year's Ann Arbor Art Fair. One booth has been recording those memories for years.
From little kids holding their parents hands to adults clutching some art on a stick, Courtney Kistler asks a simple question, "Hey wanna be on TV?"  Kistler is a production assistant with Community Television Network, or CTN.

She says people typically talk about what they like of the art fair or a new purchase, but it's a free open mic so she hears some interesting stories as well.  "We had a guy who was from India give a little bit of his life history and then he talked about himself in Hindi as well.  So that was pretty cool."

CTN staff does edit out anything inappropriate before they broadcast your message.

Of course after interviewing Kistler I agreed to say hi as well, and you will be able to see that amongst all of the messages over the coming months on CTN.

The CTN booth is on North University on the northern edge of the University of Michigan diag.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
