Plans are in the works to give one of Michigan's oldest theaters a multimillion-dollar upgrade.
The Croswell Opera House in Adrian is approaching its 150th birthday in 2016. Emory Schmidt, president of the board of directors, says the goal is to raise enough money for a $4 million renovation at the 630-seat theater.
Schmidt calls it the "crown jewel of Lenawee County." It was saved from the wrecking ball in 1967 and now offers a regular schedule of live stage plays and musicals as well as movies. Any improvements would likely include the lighting and sound systems.

The Daily Telegram  reports that the opera house was recently included in a consultant's analysis of retail in downtown Adrian.
