Dog alerts residents of fire in Brighton Township
Caleb Ross tells the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus that he was awakened early Sunday morning when his 1-year-old dog, Tucker, was "barking very ridiculously." His first reaction was to get the dog to settle down but soon realized the danger.
The 26-year-old Western Michigan University student and three other residents all suffered minor injuries as they escaped the blaze, some by leaping from a window.
The Brighton Area Fire Department and five other departments responded to the fire after a passer-by called 911, but it was not in time to save the house, which was destroyed. Damage was estimated at $300,000.
