EMU Inks Deal with Wireless Washtenaw

By Andrew Cluley

Ypsilanti, MI – Eastern Michigan University is doing its part to insure that all county residents have wireless internet access.
EMU has agreed to offer some of its buildings and towers as part of the Wireless Washtenaw initiative.
EMU's interim Director of Information, Communications, and Technology, Connie Schaffer, says the university still needs to negotiate with a vendor to determine which specific locations will be used in the project.
EMU will not have to pay for the program, but students on and off campus will benefit from Wireless Washtenaw, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007.
