EMU Launches New Program To Help Teenagers With Autism

Teenagers on the autism spectrum often struggle with social skills that make it difficult to interact with others.

Beginning on May 26th, Eastern Michigan University's Autism Collaborative Center is launching a new Summer program called PEERS.

"We start with conversation skills," says Angela Capuano, the center's clinical director.

"There's also a big section on helping kids deal with social difficulties like teasing, bullying and how to deal with rumors, gossip and the end of things."

The 14 week program will run on Wednesday's through mid August.
