Google is partnering with Eastern Michigan University to ensure small businesses and non-profit organizations have the tools they need to thrive in the online world.
The internet behemoth is drawing upon EMU students for its Google Community Leaders Program.
The students will help small businesses and non-profit organizations in Ann Arbor and four other communities expand their web presence through a variety of workshops and online tools.
EMU Associate Professor Bud Gibson says there's a big need in communities for these services.
"The world has switched over to digital marketing, but not everyone has the digital marketing skillset. Our students are well-trained in that area and they can come in and immediately fill the gap."
Gibson says the program is also a valuable tool for students, who use it to expand their skill base and make important contacts in the business world.
