Improving Pedestrian And Bicyclist Safety In Ann Arbor

City of Ann Arbor

After another bicyclist was killed in Ann Arbor by a driver, city officials continue to look for ways to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

City council has not reached any concrete decisions on the issue.

But council member Sabra Briere from the first ward says both pedestrians and bicyclists would benefit from better lighting at night if the street lights were not installed so high.  She would like to see the lights closer to the ground to better illuminate the sidewalks and crosswalks.

Council is also considering the option of re-shaping some of the city's road structures.
