Many drivers in cities such as Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti will walk, bike, or take the bus to get to work this week, instead of driving as part of a commuter challenge.

The idea is consider alternative modes of transportation to not only help the environment, but help yourself.   Bob Krzewinski is a member of the Ypsilanti Non-Motorized Advisory Committee.

"By, maybe, you know, starting a walk one time and maybe a bike ride one time, you'll maybe make that into a very healthy habit in the daily life that you have."

You don't have to do the challenge on your own, you can register others who work with you to help you stay motivated.  For a full list of commuter challenge activities and to register, click here.
