Michigan Preparing for Rollout of Medicaid Expansion
LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder says April 1 is when hundreds of thousands of low-income adults can begin enrolling for health insurance under Michigan's expansion of Medicaid.
Snyder told The Associated Press the Medicaid expansion plan is a "great program" that will give people a better quality of life. He also says fewer uninsured will visit emergency rooms for uncompensated care, ultimately saving everyone money.
Expanding coverage to people making up to 133 percent of the poverty level is expected to help 320,000 adults in the first 12 months.
