Ypsilanti attorney Ray Mullins has submitted nominating petitions to run for the 12th Congressional district seat being vacated by the retirement of Congressman John Dingell.

Mullins says he submitted 1,289 signatures at the state Bureau of Elections in Lansing.  At total of at least 1,000 valid signatures are required to appear on the ballot in the August primary election.

Dingell's wife, Debbie, is also seeking the 12th Congressional district seat.  Mullins and Debbie DIngell are both running as Democrats, so they'll face off in the August primary election.

Ypsilanti auto worker Terry Bowman is running as a Republican.  According to the Michigan Secretary of State webpage, Bowman has also submitted nominating petitions.

Tuesday is the deadline for petitions to be submitted.
