New EMU Interim President Comments On Education Achievement Authority Relationship

Eastern Michigan University named a new interim president this morning.  This after current interim president Kim Schatzel, accepted the job as president of Towson University in Baltimore.

Dr. Donald Loppnow will start on January 8th.  He worked at EMU for forty years and retired in 2014.

The former professor does not plan to change EMU's administrative stand on the issue of working with the Education Achievement Authority to help turn around failing public schools.   Both interim president Kim Schatzel and EMU's previous president supported cutting ties with the EAA.

During his tenure , Loppnow has also served as provost and interim president.
