A New Sheriff is coming to town!

Washtenaw County –

A third term was not in the cards for Washtenaw County Sheriff Dan Minzey. The incumbent Democrat lost his primary race to retired Sheriff's Deputy, Jerry Clayton. Clayton now faces Republican Dwayne Taylor in the November general election.

In other local races of interest:
2nd ward Ypsilanti City Councilman John Gawlas was upset in his primary race. Mike Bodary won the Democratic Primary and will be unchallenged in November, effectively winning the seat with Tuesday's win.

In Ypsilanti Township, Supervisor Ruth Ann Jamnick was unseated by Brenda Stumbo. Stumbo is currently the Township Clerk, but instead chose to run for the Supervisor's chair. Stumbo will be unopposed in November. Additionally, Karen Lovejoy Roe won the Democratic primary to fill Stumbo's old Township Clerk position.
