State environmental officials want feedback from Washtenaw County residents about a new plan to stop invasive species.

Joann Foreman is with the Department of Natural Resources.  She says the five year planwill cover both invasive plants and animals. It will also cover species that haven’t yet made it to Michigan.

Foreman says,

“One of those would be the Asian Longhorned Beetle, which is in small pockets in some surrounding states. We’re hoping it doesn’t get to Michigan, but it’s one of the things we’d like people to be aware of in case it does make it here.”

A draft of the DNR’sInvasive Species Management Planis available for public review through June 24.
