Police Investigate Off-Campus Death Of EMU Student
Ypsilanti and Eastern Michigan University police are investigating the death of a student in the off-campus Peninsular Place apartments. The victim has been identified as 23 year-old Julia Catherine Niswender. She was found dead in an apartment in the one thousand block of Huron River Drive. Police have yet to determine the cause of her death, but are treating the case as a possible homicide. A campus forum on safety was held this afternoon, where it was announced that there will be additional campus police patrols for at least a few days. Counseling services are also being made available at no cost. No suspects have been identified, and police hope anyone with information on the case will contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
