Progress on New Ann Arbor Municipal Building

By Andrew Cluley

Ann Arbor, MI – Ann Arbor is moving forward on design work for a new municipal building that would include court facilities and police headquarters.
Monday night, city council approved an 833-thousand dollar congract with Quinn Evans Architects for project planning and design for the facility to be located next to the current city hall.
City council member Chris Easthope says he's glad to finally be moving forward on this project, but says if something better comes along, the city could still go a different route.
Mayor John Hieftje opposes the contract. He says current budget problems locally and statewide make this a poor time to start a 35-million dollar project.
