Sketch Of Assault Suspect Released

Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of a suspect in the Monday evening assault of a woman in Ypsilanti Township. The victim indicates she was targeted because of her recent marriage to a same-sex partner.

From the Sheriff's Office:

On 3/31/2014, at 6:00 p.m., the victim exited a public transport bus at a bus stop located at Ellsworth/Golfside Roads in Ypsilanti Township. The 28 year old victim was confronted by the attached suspect inside the Roundtree Apartments. The victim was assaulted by the suspect, and at least two other males were present during the assault. This assault is believed to be a hate crime related to the issue of same sex marriage. The suspect was seen fleeing the area in an unknown direction.
