Student Leaders Call TV Series Unfair

By Andrew Cluley

Ypsilanti, MI – Eastern Michigan University's student affairs committee says a recent series of reports on EMU's University House by a Detroit television station was based on half-truths, opinions, and hearsay.
Several student groups spoke out against channel 7 and reporter Steve Wilson at yesterday's (Tuesday's) EMU Board of Regents meeting.
Student body President Sean Gray said the fact that donations to the EMU Foundation increased from 800-thousand dollars in December of 2002 to more than one-point-five million dollars in December of last year is proof that Wilson's claim that the house has failed as a fundraising tool is just wrong.
The student affairs committee also submitted a report to the Regents listing other inaccuracies in the channel 7 series.
Several students also called for a town hall meeting with EMU's president and regents to hear their side of the issue.
