'Support Ann Arbor Teachers' Group Continues To Fight Against New Evaluation System

wikimedia commons

A group called Support Ann Arbor Teacherswill give a press conference before the Ann Arbor school board meets tonight at Forsythe Middle School.

The new teacher evaluation system will be the focus of the discussion.  Teachers say the process, which looks at 76 different objectives, including student standardized test results, could put many jobs on the line.

Teacher Jeff Gaynor says not all of his colleagues understand the new system.  He believes that confusion could create problems for some teachers and allow the district to give them a bad evaluation.

Teachers want the school board to address their concerns during the 7:00 PM meeting.  The group encourages the public to attend their press conference at 6:00 PM also at Forsythe Middle School.
