The U.S. Airforce band will present a free concert at Eastern Michigan University's Pease Auditorium  on April 9th.  Along with the band, 18 professional vocalists called the Singing Sargeants will also perform.

The Band consists of 53 active duty Airmen instrumentalist who will present a variety of anthems and classics, as well as original works.  Dr. Mary Schneider is the Director of Bands at EMU.  Schneider thinks the concert will be a unique opportunity to hear great musicians.

The band will be visiting music classes at EMU, giving the students a chance to learn from some of the best musicians in the community.  Schneider says a select group of EMU's wind symphony members and choir members will get to participate in the concert as well.

Tickets aren't required, but those who obtain tickets will receive seating priority.  Click here for more information on tickets and the concert.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
