Wandering Child Re-United with Mother

eWashtenaw.org

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office says a child found wandering along Washtenaw Avenue early this morning had been reunited with his mother.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Washtenaw Avenue around 1:52 a.m. Sunday after someone called, worried the child was going to be struck by a vehicle.

Deputies found the 6 or 7 year old boy walking toward a Taco Bell restaurant.  The child was unharmed, but was wearing nothing but a diaper.  He was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

The sheriff's office says the child had been spending the night locally with his mother, who was visiting a friend.  When the mother woke up, the boy was gone.

Mother and child, who live in Jackson, have been re-united.
