Warmer Temperatures, Less Snow Expected This Winter

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association

El Niño will continue affecting the weather in Michigan this winter.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its winter weather outlook for the U.S. today.

The Great Lakes region should expect a drier than average winter with temperatures warmer than last year.

El Niño causes warmer ocean temperatures on the West Coast, affecting seasonal temperatures across the continent.

Although forecasters expect higher temperatures this winter, freezing weather will still arrive sooner than most Washtenaw County residents would likely prefer.

The National Weather Service predicts frost and freezing overnight temperatures will arrive in Southeast Michigan this weekend.
