You may think it's too early to start thinking about school immunization waivers, but the Washtenaw County Health Department recommends scheduling an appointment as soon as possible.
Immunization waiver appointments are already available at the Washtenaw County Health Department. Spokesperson SusanCerniglia says last year, the number of waivers issued decreased after the state required parents to attend animmunization education sessionif they didn't want their child to get vaccinated.
"682 to be exact were turned in to local schools and day cares. And that represents about a 2% decrease from the prior school year."
Waivers are issued for non-medical reasons such as religious or philosophical beliefs. For more information on the waivers, click here.
