The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office wants to host a citizen's police academy, but is trying to determine if there is enough interest from the public.

For now, the academy is scheduled for several days between June 15th and August 24th.  Washtenaw County Deputy JessicaWion says it's a great way for residents to learn about the sheriff's office.

"They meet the sheriff and learn about what community engagement is and how their role can be in the community."

Anyone who is interested should contact the sheriff's office as soon as possible to register for the academy.  If there isn't enough participation, the Sheriff's office may cancel the academy.
