Water Rates May Increase Again

Ypsilanti, MI – It appears water and sewer rates will be going up again in Ypsilanti soon.
City council has approved the first reading of an ordinance to raise water and sewer rates by an average of three-point-nine percent. The city gets some of its water from the Detroit water department, which is increasing its rates, so the city says it needs to likewise raise its rates to cover the additional cost.
Council member Lois Richardson cast the lone "no" vote on the increases Monday night.
