Washington Street in Ypsilanti is being converted into an open air art gallery Friday and Saturday for First Fridays Ypsilanti's latest art crawl event.
The Ypsi Art Fair runs from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, and again from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday on Washington between Michigan Avenue and Pearl Street.
Kayj Michelle chairs the First Fridays Ypsilanti Planning Committee. She says the art fair is something new they're trying.
"We're going to have a collection of vendors, local artists and craftsmen and craftswomen hanging out and selling their goods," Michelle says. "It's the first time we're trying this, but it's pretty exciting for us."
Michelle says First Fridays Ypsilanti's regularly participating vendors will be on hand, with some setting up mobile locations on Washington Street for the event.
