Ypsilanti officials want to hear residents’ concerns about the Water Street Redevelopment Project.
Many residents view the project as a lengthy and expensive redevelopment of the Water Street site. The city wants to know exactly what Ypsilanti residents think in order to help pass a August millage to pay off part of the project's debt.
The 2.3 millage will replace an expiring mill. Taxes will not increase.
Beth Ernat is Ypsilanti’s Director of Community Development. She says the officials want “to find out what information has not been communicated." "This will allow us to better address the direct concerns [of residents]," Ernat says.
The Water Street Debt Millage would raise more than $10 million over fifteen years to pay off the project’s debt.
