Ann Arbor Mosque Hosts Open House This Weekend

Schools Of Choice Program Will Continue In Ann Arbor

The Ann Arbor Board of Education Wednesday night voted to continue tapping into the area's business and education engine, and continue its schools of choice program. 

“Well, Ann Arbor, as you know, is an economic hub of the region. It’s really a destination. 60,000 folks drive in each day for either work or higher ed.”

Detroit Police Department

The City of Ann Arbor is starting over in looking for a new police chief, after James White who had accepted the position changed his mind and is staying on as assitant Detroit police chief. 

Ann Arbor Mayor Chrisopher Taylor says they're "moving forward" since getting the news in an email from White.

"We were all looking forward to James White's service as police chief of Ann Arbor, so yes we are disappointed. We are fortunate however to have an outstanding, experienced and respected interim chief," Taylor says.

 The CEO and co-founder of Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, Ari Weinzweig is speaking at the Zing Train Speaker Series about "hope in the workplace."  After encountering some employees engaged in a non hopeful conversation, Weinzweig decided to do some research on the topic and plans to incorporate what he learned in his next book.

Lumm Will Represent Ann Arbor's Ward 2 For Another Term

Ann Arbor City Council member Jane Lumm celebrated her re-election last night.

 

 

 

Lumm beat challenger Sally Hart Peterson with 64% of the vote. At her campaign party at Paesano Restaurant on Washtenaw Avenue, Lumm says she did not expect to gain such a wide margin against Peterson.

Communities around the WEMU listening area went to the polls Tuesday to vote on city council members and local leaders, millages for road repairs, and expanding public transit in Washtenaw County. Here you'll find the results as they become available:

Ann Arbor Police.

A public community reception will be held this Thursday November 5th at the Ann Arbor city hall lobby so you can meet candidates interested in the chief of police job.

Voters in Ann Arbor's 2nd Ward head to the polls next Tuesday to elect either an incumbent or former ward representative. Independent Jane Lumm is seeking a third consecutive term on city council. She is challenged by Democrat Sally Hart Peterson who served on council from 2012 to 2014. We caught up with both to discuss their visions for Ann Arbor and allow them to tell you why they deserve your vote.
