Greenbelt Growing Around Ann Arbor

The Greenbelt program is an innovative land preservation program that has protected almost 2,000 acres of farmland and open space surrounding the City of Ann Arbor, and has leveraged over $12 million through grants, landowner donations, and other locally funded programs.

Ann Arbor Saving Money Through County Dispatch Services

Metro-Dispatch provides police dispatching services for the Sheriff's Office, Ann Arbor Police Department, Huron Area Metro Parks Police, Michigan State Police, Northfield Township Police and the Ypsilanti Police Department, while providing non-emergency and emergency 911 services to the citizens of Washtenaw County. On average, Metro Dispatch handles in excess of 1000 emergency and non-emergency calls every day.

Recycling Old Electronics

With many people receiving new electronics over the holidays, the question becomes what to do with old devices. According to the EPA, more than 2.5 million tons of electronic waste is produced each year in the US.  

If the item is still relatively new, it is possible to sell the item on eBay or elsewhere. But, environmentalists hope that the old items won’t just end up in the trash.
