ReImagine Washtenaw is holding a series of public workshops.  WEMU's Bob Eccles interviewed project manager Nathan Voght.

Downtown Ann Arbor, on Saturday, will be the site of a protest march and rally. The "March Against Monsanto" will begin at 1 pm on the University of Michigan central campus Diag, and proceed to Hanover Square Park for the rally.  On "Morning Edition" today, WEMU's David Fair caught up with the woman who organized the protest, Kryssi Jones.

Ann Arbor Public Schools are sending layoff notices to 233 teachers but are hoping the layoffs won't be necessary.

Ann Arbor City Council will dip into fund balance a bit further next fiscal year to give a boost to affordable housing and human services. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports,  early this morning the City Council,  passed an 83.1 million dollar general fund budget for the 2014 fiscal year. 

Motorists in the Ann Arbor/Pittsfield Township should prepare for some new traffic delays as a new road construction project gets underway. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, work on a new roundabout at the intersection of State Street and Ellsworth Road will get underway in June.

The new performing arts group Ann Arbor in Concert holds its inaugural performance Saturday night at 8 at the Michigan Theater.  WEMU's Bob Eccles spoke with a couple of the folks involved.

The "Ride of Silence" takes place tonight, locally and around the country. As WEMU's Bob Eccles reports, cyclists from Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor will take part in the event honoring riders who have been hurt and killed.

A formal dedication ceremony was held Tuesday for the Stadium Bridges in Ann Arbor. WEMU's Andrew Cluley was there and provides all the details.

A proposed 14-story development at Huron and Division in Ann Arbor is moving forward, despite the fact no one on Ann Arbor City Council truly likes the plan. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, Council voted 6-5 to five in favor of approving the site plan and development agreement.

There will be three occasions next fiscal year for which the Ann Arbor Public schools will have to borrow money to cover payroll costs. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, the Board of Education last night passed as resolution authorizing establishment of a line of credit of up to 10-million dollars.

The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) are collecting public feedback on short and long term transportation plans. The proposals are billed as the "2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Plan" and the "2040 Regional Transportation Plan." The first public hearing on the comprehensive measures took place Wednesday at Washtenaw Community College. WEMU's Andrew Cluley was there.

There has been no shortage of input from the community at public forums on the Ann Arbor School District's budget proposal. The latest hearing was held Tuesday night at Pioneer High school. The budget proposal calls for eight-point-seven million dollars in cuts for the upcoming academic year. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, attendees are also suggesting ways to enhance district revenue.

Lengthy public hearings on a proposed apartment complex development at 413 East Huron have prevented Ann Arbor City Council from taking action on the matter. As WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports, for a second meeting in a row, council last night halted its session prior to finishing up the nights agenda.
