Public safety ballot proposals fared well in Washtenaw County Tuesday.

Voters said "yes" to police and fire millage renewals in York, Dexter and Superior Townships, and Northfield and Augusta Township voters approved fire services millage renewals. 

Freedom Township will remain part of the Manchester District Library, and Chelsea voters approved a point-three-two mil increase for operation of the library in their community.

Washtenaw County voters have an even dozen ballot proposals to decide today.

Many of them are police and fire millage renewals, but Manchester Community Schools voters are also being asked to OK a bond issue and millage renewal.

A couple of library-related proposals will also be decided.  The Chelsea District Library is asking for a millage increase, while in Freedom Township, voters are being asked whether they should withdraw from the Manchester District Library.

Governor Rick Snyder made a stop in Saline last night to participate in a town hall meeting where he warned the crowd to be careful voting on ballot proposals that would change the state Constitution.  WEMU's Bob Eccles has the story.

Overall, ballot propositions fared well in yesterday's voting in Washtenaw County.    
    Superior Township voters said 'yes' to three money issues for police and fire services, and for a fund to defend the township's master plan and zoning ordinances.
    Manchester voters approve a millage increase for fir protection services, and York Township voters said 'yes' to a millage renewal for public safety services.
    In Sylvan Township, voters approved by a scant seven vote margin a tax increase to pay off a debt obligation to Washtenaw County.
