On Tuesday, there were three contested races for Ann Arbor City Council,  city council and a mayoral race in Milan and in Dexter, voters ousted an incumbent. 

The creative industries are tied to many facets of our personal lives and in our communities.  The health and well-being of this economic sector reaches beyond what many consider, "the arts."  As today is Election Day, this week's "creative:impact" focuses on the importance of elections and a cooperative spirit. 

Every Monday morning, the executive director of the CivCity Initiative joins WEMU's David Fair for a conversation on topics pertinent to Washtenaw County and the city of Ann Arbor.  Mary Morgan will provide news, analysis, commentary and explain the various ways residents can become more engaged.

Jeff Gaynor, Harmony Mitchell, and Hunter Van Valkenburgh have announced their candidacy for the Ann Arbor Schools Board of Education as a slate. 

Voters are at the polls today, and in Ann Arbor there are primary races in four of the city's five wards. WEMU's Andrew Cluley reports.

In Ann Arbor's 5th  ward, Current councilman Carston Hohnke is not seeking re-election. Voters will choose from a pair of familiar faces seeking to fill that seat. WEMU's Andrew Cluley provides a preview.

Primary election day is less than a week away. In Ann Arbor's 2nd Ward, voters will choose between Incumbent Tony Derezinksi  and his challenger, Sally Hart Peterson. WEMU's Andrew Cluley has a look at the Democratic candidates.
