This weekend you have the chance to learn more about the Small Learning Communities educational model chosen for middle and high school students in the Ypsilanti Community Schools. 

A public meeting Saturday will also help to determine which school buildings are best suited for Small Learning Communities, and which might not be used next year.

Saturday's meeting runs from ten to noon at Ypsilanti New Tech at Ardis, 2100 Ellsworth Road. 

Thursday night's public forum on the qualities folks want to see in a superintendent for the unified Willow Run-Ypsilanti school district was slightly better attended than Wednesday night's meeting on possible names for the district.  WEMU's Bob Eccles has the story.

The unified Ypsilanti-Willow Run school board has decided on a process to name the new district.  As WEMU’s Bob Eccles reports, if all goes according to plan, that name will be in place in just over one month’s time.

The Superintendent of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District is recommending that the unified Ypsilanti-Willow Run School Board keep Perry Child Development Center and the elementary schools in the Ypsilanti and Willow Run districts open next school year.
